The Ladies Golf Association of Nigeria led by its President Dr. Lami Onayi Ahmed FNIM today paid a courtesy visit to Dr. Ogwu James Onoja SAN in Abuja following Nigeria’s successful bid to host the 2026 All Africa Challenge Trophy.

The visit provided an opportunity to formally brief him on the forthcoming championship scheduled to hold in Abuja in November 2026 and to share the Association’s vision for delivering a successful continental event.

During the meeting, Dr. Onoja was formally decorated as Patron of the Ladies Golf Association of Nigeria and AACT Ambassador for the 2026 championship. He was presented with an award of appreciation and decorated with the Association’s branded hat and muffler in recognition of his distinguished standing and support for national development initiatives and his outstanding contributions to women’s sports development.

Dr. Onoja graciously accepted the award and expressed his appreciation to the leadership and members of the Association for the honour. He noted that he is also a golfer who loves the game and understands the value of sports in promoting unity, discipline and national pride. He warmly celebrated Nigeria’s achievement in securing the hosting rights for the 2026 All Africa Challenge Trophy and commended the Association for its commitment and hard work. He pledged his full support as Patron and Ambassador and assured the Association of his readiness to contribute his quota toward the successful hosting of the championship.

Also present at the meeting were Dr. Jumai Ahmadu, Elder Peter Idenyi Esq. and Hon. Isaac E. Ekpa, who joined in reaffirming their collective commitment to the growth of women’s golf and the successful hosting of the 2026 championship.

The Ladies Golf Association of Nigeria remains committed to advancing women’s golf and to ensuring that the 2026 All Africa Challenge Trophy reflects Nigeria’s capacity, excellence and hospitality on the African continent.
